Post here any tips, useful software or general info - software/hardware related etc.

A list of software from the previous forums:\

    AutoHideDesktopIcons 2.25 portable - CaesarRex

Google and download this awesome little treasure.
If you like me you hate a busy desktop - so the less the better but we still need even the simplest icons. This program hides them until you click your desktop or Win+D.

Gimp (Similar to paintshop but free) - Nero

I like Gimp. Its a free alternative to paint. Its very good.

    Revo Uninstaller Pro - Insanehobo

Makes sure there are no leftovers.

    PeerBlock for torrents - ConnorBS

For those who download things in a less than reputable manner, I would suggest trying out PeerBlock, a program that blocks those pesky servers that track network data for copyright materials.

Iolo System Mechanic: http://www.iolo.com/system-mechanic/standard/download.aspx - ConnorBS

This piece of software detects and repairs memory, registreys, hard drive and general computer woes all in one go. Make sure you click the "free download" link and download it. THe full version gives quite a few usefull tools, but the free version does a spectacular job at cleaning up the real problem areas.

    Malewarebytes: http://www.malwarebytes.org/ - ConnorBS

This piece of software does a great job at removing any malicious software/junk that has found itself on your computer. Once again, stick to the free option, and if your like me and you just delete anything that could be associated with Maleware, make sure you go into the scan options and ensure that PUP is detected and checked for removal, instead of the detected but not selected option.

    Kaspersky Rescue Disk 10: http://support.kaspersky.com/4162 - ConnorBS

This Bootable Anti-Virus does a bang up job of detecting viruses in a machine.

The Ultimate Boot CD for Windows: http://www.ubcd4win.com/index.htm - ConnorBS

This is possibly the best bootable program in existence. You can recover data off of failed drives, repair drives, antivirus, web browser, the list goes on check out the full list onhttp://www.ubcd4win.com/contents.htm.
Seriously, take a USB stick right now, use a magic marker and write UBCD on it, install UBCD on it and put it away somewhere safe. You will thank me later.

Feel free to add more.... being in this environment we always looking for ways to optimize and customize our workstations

Daemon Tools Pro, Speccy, CCleaner, TCP Optimizer.

I also use Recuva and Auslogics Disk Defrag but I haven't tried many other similar programs so there might be some better alternatives to them.
